"My work takes to task the conceptualization of meaning through painted images of specific objects and interactions. The imagery employed is a reflection of my environment. The objects and events depicted are traditionally insignificant, but when uniquely paired or divergently utilized, take on new meaning. The paintings are intended to function as vehicles for varied signification and interpretation. They focus only on implications, suggesting that the space between meaningful and meaningless may often be narrower than one thinks." - Ian
