Julia Powers is a New York City based artist born in 1990 and raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Powers studied at School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Massachusetts College of Art with a BFA in painting. Within her theme of obsessive painting, trompe l'oeil and repetitive image making depicts her studio practice by including tape and oil paint as subject matters on the canvas. Her work informs her experience working as a painter for Jeff Koons and apart from, reproducing details of the classical paintings that she was hired to duplicate under Koons. Powers has shown work in galleries and pop ups across NY, NJ, MA, FL, CA and Japan. She currently works from her studio in Brooklyn, NY.
